After you go over these words on the PPT then ask students to sort the words.  Students can work individually or in pairs/small groups. 

Options for closed sorts:  ("closed" means that we give them the categories) 
 

1.   Ask students to sort these words (just one or two of these - not all):

              Words you know; words you don’t

              Verbs/other

              Nouns/other

              Things you can have/things you cannot have

                         Can have: destiny, attitude, potential, colleague, achievements, monitor

                         Can’t have: menial, networking, proactively, marketable, status quo
