Developing a "distinguishing" eye for webquests.  Work in groups of 4 using the handout provided in our session.  Use the provided grid to evaluate each of the following webquests:

 

  1. A Tale to be Told - explore the folk tales of cultures throughout the world
  2. An Insect's Perspective - Defend yourself against the Pest Control Man! ( 2nd Grade)
  3. Farmers Farmers Everywhere! - We need people to run our farms and you've been selected to become a farmer. (2nd-4th grade)
  4. Journey Back in Time - Portray colonial life from one of many points of view (4th-6th Grade)

How to get started: 

□ Introduce digital storytelling by examining samples of prior work from Internet, analyzing strengths and weaknesses of various pieces

□ Compare and contrast various venues:  photo essays, digital stories

□ Discuss each participant’s own project plans, preparation of materials, including scripting, rough source material selection and storyboarding.

□ Overview of Photoshop & digitization of materials, gathering resources

□ Video Editing software overview

□ soundtrack

□ Add special effects and finalize project

□ Burn final project to CD or upload to Internet (youtube, etc). 

□ Next steps…..implement in the classroom
