Character
(p. 79-101)
Lukens
We
learn to know characters by their appearance, words, actions, thoughts, and
the opinions of others about them. Round characters have many traits, flat characters have limited development. Stereotypes and foils
serve as background characters. Central characters are round; they may or may not change, but any
change must be convincing.
Is
there unity between the character and his/her actions?
Who
is dynamic (a rounded character that changes)?
Who
are the stereotype characters?
What
does the stereotype character say that tells us about him/her?
What
do author comments tell us?
Who
is round and who is flat?
Who
is static (round that does not
change)?
Who
are the foil characters?
