Welcome! We have a two-fold challenge for this course:
This course is designed to allow you to have some choice in both domains. You will be allowed to select which types of hardware (digital cameras, camcorders, scanners, etc.) you want to learn, as well as, the types of software applications (imaging software, composing software - this list is endless) you want to learn. The types of technology (hardware and software) you have available to you (personally or at your school) and the dynamics of your classroom, along with YOUR OWN self-identified strengths/weaknesses and TECHNOLOGY GOALS will be considerations in your decision making for what you do in this course. Are you new to on-line learning? Just as providing instruction in an on-line venue requires adjustments in strategies and methodologies, so does TAKING an on-line course. Your time, energies and study methods need to align with the demands of on-line learning. Take this quick diagnostic and informative quiz to determine how well your personal "learning profile" aligns with the expectations of on-line learning. Click on the rather "graphic" graphic below to begin the quiz. To return to this page, simply click "BACK" in your browser window:
Welcome back! Glad to see you are UP for the demands of on-line/distance learning! Please share your RESULTS (the numerical score you calculated from the quiz) with Dr. Petty. To do so, please fill in the following form and CLICK SUBMIT: You could think of the requirements of this course as a "smorgasbord" of techno-opportunities from which you can custom design your own learning. First, let's help you determine where you are RIGHT NOW with your technology skills. Click on the mouse image below to take a TECHNOLOGY SURVEY which will help us determine where you are and where you would like to be in terms of confidently using technology as a teaching and learning tool: Back so soon? You are now ready to begin. The COURSE CALENDAR will give you a roadmap for how to navigate through the course and will, hopefully, help you make best use of your time and energies. We will be spending some "quality" time together as a class so let's get to know each other a bit. Blackboard found here: http://ecourses.wku.edu ).
