Self-Selected Reading

Turn in a lesson plan in the following format:

• Your name
• Grade level taught
• APA bibliographic information on the book you used for your read aloud along
• Describe your direct instruction to students about "how to select books that they will love to read"
• Describe and provide documentation for the one-on-one conferencing you do with students as they are reading
• Describe the sharing opportunities that students had at the end of the session
• One paragraph reflection of how you thought the experience went

Assist a child (or group) in locating a book that interests them and that they can read with meaning.  You MUST provide a direct LESSON on HOW to select a book and other strategies associated with independent reading.  A Self-Selected Reading lesson always starts with a teacher read aloud.
