- Demonstrate your ability to read aloud as a means of modeling, motivating,
and sharing your LOVE of good literature. You will plan and expertly
execute ten (10) read alouds from a variety of types of
children's books: historical fiction, information books, fiction,
poetry, etc. ONE of the read alouds must be INTERACTIVE. Examples and exact instructions will be share in
class.
Read Alouds (5 points each - 50 points total)
Conduct ten Read Alouds with a small group of students or the whole
class selecting from a variety of children's books: fiction, historical
fiction, poetry, information books, biography, etc. ONE of the read alouds
must be INTERACTIVE. Instructions,
requirements and modeling will be provided during class. Summary sheet
will be provided that must be signed by you and your cooperating teacher.
- Choose a piece of children's literature appropriate for your group of
students. Find out students' interests and topics being studied in the
classroom.
- Select a book for the Read Aloud. You may want to
discuss possible selections with the classroom teacher. However, YOU
are responsible for selecting the book.
- Practice reading the story aloud BEFORE you read aloud to the
class/students.
- Plan and record your questions and points of discussion that you will use
with students during the experience.
- For the REQUIRED INTERACTIVE read aloud fully explain how students will be INVOLVED DURING the read aloud ...
questions or AFTER reading activities do not count as fully involving
students.
