Literature-Based Exam One
Directions for the EXAM:
1) Select a piece of quality children's literature that you plan to use (or
might use) in your 5-day sequence.
2) Use the Literature-Based Instruction textbook (Yopp and Yopp) and plan
pre/during/post reading activities.
3) The format of your TYPED paper should look like this:
YOUR NAME ... you
MUST put your NAME on the paper (pet peeve).
DOUBLE SPACE and
use a 12 point font (preferably Times New Roman or Arial). No giant type, no
tiny type.
a) Put the bibliographic information at the top of the page (APA style).
example:
Petty, P.
(2001). How to live without sleep. New York: Houghton Mifflin.
b) Synopsis: Briefly tell what the book is about in just a few sentences. Be
sure and include the THEME of the book.
c) Provide a pre-reading activity - actually make an example of the activity
based on the book you selected.
d) Provide a during-reading activity - actually make an example of the activity
based on the book you selected.
e) Provide a post-reading activity - actually make an example of the activity
based on the book you selected.
STAPLE your paper in the top left-hand corner and turn it in on MONDAY, October
22 ... you must have permission to turn this in late ... no exceptions.
