Q.  What is an "interactive" read aloud?

A.  The purpose of an "interactive" read aloud is that students actually participate in some way DURING the reading.  Follow-ups are great and have their purpose ... I am all for them, but too many times teachers expect students to sit quietly during read alouds (and sometimes that IS appropriate) ... we want the skills to be able to INVOLVE students WHILE we read so that they have some "ownership" of the reading also.  Now, you can invent some hand signs or movements to go along with your read aloud, you can have students make sounds, or repeat words along with your read aloud OR any number of other things, but you need some small way of involving the students so that they have a PURPOSE for listening and feel like THEY are participants also.  Get it?

Q.  How can I get ORGANIZED?

A.  Not organized yet? or Are you still trying to get organized?  Here is a trick that has helped me, maybe it will work for you.

I gathered up about 25 manila folders, put the name of every assignment on each one.  On the outside of each folder I place the due date of the project.  I then place all folder in an expandable accordian file.  Then for each paper or notes I have on a given assignment I drop it into the corresponding folder.  I ended up with about 15 manila folders, but I can easily get to any information to work on a given assignment.

Thanks Ken Baker!!

Q.  Where can I find the on-line version of the Educational Assessment Program?
A.  Here is the URL for the LARGE document you need to read in preparation for a short quiz regarding assessment ethics ...  everyone needs this information as they are state-wide regulations.  If you do not have Acrobat Reader you will need to download it (use a search engine to find it ... it is free to download).  You will know if you have it because it will pop up a box that says Acrobat Reader and then it will open the document.  It is 16 pages long.

Q.  Where can I find some information about authors of the books I am reading to students?

A.
