Bookmaking in the classroom allows our students to:

a)  Participate in the art of bookmaking;

b)  Appreciate the time and craftsmanship involved in creating a book;

c)  Highlight and preserve their own writing in the form of a book;

d)  Read and appreciate other students' writings.

Your bookmaking efforts in this assignment:

1)  Your book may be narrative or expository text.  It may also be in the form of an illustrated poem or song (see # 7 below).

2)  You should target a specific age group of children (somewhere between 5 and 11).

3)  You must select a topic for your book that is age and interest level appropriate.

4)  You must write it yourself ... you must illustrate it yourself. You may use any form of media for the illustrations.

5)  You may use whatever media you think best compliments your words (computer generated graphics, pen and ink, watercolor, pastels, etc.).

6)  Accuracy and neatness are SUPREMELY important in this assignment.

7)  The text for this book MUST come from the writing you do on Task 2, section "c" from the LTCY 320 syllabus.  If you do not understand this requirement, ask.
